 Aberystwyth Rotary club President 2015/16

John Harries

President’s message 2015-16

I am in the fortunate position to be taking up the office of President of a vibrant and active Aberystwyth Rotary Club.

At the heart of our activities as Rotarians is the work which we do to serve our local and international communities. In the year ahead, I should be delighted if, through our fundraising and other events, we continue to be as supportive and responsive as we can in helping those who are in need.

In addition, I know our Club will also continue to do as much as we can in helping develop the skills and ambitions of young people in our locality.

I wish Club members an enjoyable, active and healthy year ahead and thank you again for your support.

Diolch yn fawr am eich cefnogaeth a phob dymuniad da am y flwyddyn i ddod.

John Harries

Club President

Born and bred in Carmarthenshire, John is a former pupil of Gwendraeth Grammar School. He studied for a BSc degree in Agricultural Botany at Aberystwyth University and then successfully defended his PhD. Following his retirement from the University in 2010 John enjoys spending more time with his family, travelling and participating in a range of sports including cycling, golf and skiing; he is a keen supporter of Llanelli Scarlets. He is married to Gill and they have three grown up children, all of whom live in Cardiff.
